An all American girl with a passion for design, Ruthie Davis explores sensuality and strength with an emphasis on silhouette, innovative materials and color. Connecticut bred Davis earned a liberal and visual arts degree from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine before going on to get her MBA in Entrepreneurship from Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts. With a love for fashion that has permeated her creative process and informed her business sensibility, Davis set out to start her career in design.
Davis began her career at Rebook, where she revamped the Classics brand with dynamic designs, appealing to the discriminating taste of the fashion consumer. She then moved onto UGG Australia, where she breathed new life into the brand, transforming the sleepy surfer boot into a fashion cult item. She offered a fresh perspective, innovative designs, and a marketing plan that took the brand to unforeseen heights. Next for Davis was Tommy Hilfiger, where the go-to girl in the industry for color, novelty and innovation headed the women's footwear division, conceiving and launching Tommy Girl shoes, a new category for the company.
After a successful career of reinventing some of the most recognizable footwear and fashion companies, Davis entered the luxury footwear market, with the launch of her eponymous line in 2006, creating a brand that has captured the attention of the fashion elite, and grown on a global level.
Renowned for her architectural shapes and luxurious mix of materials, coupled with uncompromising quality and a vivid color palette, Ruthie Davis offers a unique fusion of power and sensuality that can be summed up in one single shoe. Conceived in New York and constructed in Italy, each shoe has a point of view, as well as a point of difference, with its DNA rooted in creativity.
Each shoe is sketched from the hand of Davis herself, a fantasy of high creation, coupled with detailed construction, resulting in shoes made for sharp women with places to go. With devoted fans including Beyonce, Penelope Cruz and Lady Gaga, it is clear that Ruthie Davis shoes are for women with a strong sense of style and self, much like the designer.
The brand is represented in many of the best retail doors worldwide including Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale's, Harvey Nichols, Luisa Via Roma and 10 Corso Como, spanning over 30 countries and 70 locations worldwide. Ruthie Davis shoes have been featured in New York Fashion Week runway presentations by Alice + Olivia, David Meister, Joanna Mastroianni, Dennis Basso and Doo Ri.
In addition to the fashion and entertainment industries, the New Britain Museum of American Art recognized Ruthie's forceful impact on modern design and recently exhibited her shoe designs in a retrospective titled, Ruthie Davis: COUTURE FUTURISTIC DESIGN. Ruthie is also one of 20 global shoe designers asked to create a collaborative capsule collection for Swarovski "Sparkling Contrasts", which will be showcased at a ceremony in Beijing, China in September 2012.
