Chukwudozie: A Salute to Dexterity and Humility

Chukwudozie: A Salute to Dexterity and Humility

- By Ingram Osigwe

As pregnancy is insuppressible so is a good man; his good works, his kind and large heart. This assertion finds meaning in Chief (Sir) Daniel Chukwudozie's life trajectory. This shrewd industrialist wears no air and exudes non; he is as simple as air itself. He exudes a calm ambience that belies his war chest, yet the more he tries to remain unassuming by avoiding the spotlight, the more his selfless service to humanity and God; his kind and golden heart lay him bare and drag him to the public arena for recognition.

TALK OF THE TOWN: "Children of Blood and Bone" Brings Young Nigerian American Writer Fame and Fortune

Female Narratives in Nollywood Melodramas

Female Narratives in Nollywood Melodramas: Elizabeth Johnson, Donald Culverson
Click here to order for the book.

This book investigates how identities for West African women are created and recreated through the broad interplay of Nollywood film viewing on social and individual levels. Since many Nollywood films are freely accessible online, the role of online communities repurposes Nollywood films. Female Narratives in Nollywood Melodramas addresses if this is a good or bad promoter of critical consciousness, as many of the films depict the stifling of women. The authors examine nine Nollywood melodramas through Black feminist, cultivation, audience reception, and social identity theories. Readers will gain an understanding of how Nollywood is a product and contributor to evolving processes of globalization. Recommended for scholars of film studies, communication, African studies, and women studies.

Video: My Mama Says School is Not for Girls

My Mama Says School is Not for Girls

Watch Reena's story about how she struggled for her right to be educated despite traditional beliefs from her mother. There are still so many places in the world where people, especially girls and women, immigrants, and people with disabilities aren't allowed to go to school.

Education is so important because it's the one thing that can transcends your social and economic status. It doesn’t matter if you were born poor or rich; getting an education can help you to reach your full potential.

Reena knew this and even though her mother disagreed with her she knew that the only way she was going to really be able to help her family and her community was to get an education. It took a long time but once she was able to convince them, she worked so hard to get to a point where she could come back and give everyone, especially the girls in her village the same opportunity she had. But not just that, she also works closely with UNESCO to make even bigger changes with the legal frameworks that UNESCO has spearheaded.

This is only ONE story amongst many of those that struggled and are still struggling to be able to go to school, to be able to get the education they have every right to have, to be able to rise above their circumstance and have the opportunity to achieve their dreams.

The #RightToEducation Campaign

The #RightToEducation Campaign

Education is a fundamental human right of every woman, man and child. Yet this right is still not a reality for millions and is violated every single day. This is unacceptable!

She is Coming Soon To the Big Screen!

Our goal is to discover our own @lupitanyongo in #Nollywood who will be ready for the international red carpets of @festivaldecannes and @theacademy before she is 25.
We are grooming her for the Big Picture!
She is 22 now and her first photographs will be ready soon.
No bleaching.
No masquerade makeup.
No fake accent.
No drama queen.
No "Ogbanje" problems and
No bipolar disorder.
She will be ready for global stardom.
It is about time for a Nigerian girl to breakthrough for the big screen.

We have been waiting and wishing for a Nollywood actress to give us the golden moment of tinseltown stardom since 1992, but none of them has been able to make it.
The real African magic Cinderella.

One big breakthrough in cinema is the classic Cinderella story we need from Nollywood.
She is coming.
