SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 21, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- San Francisco Art Exchange LLC (SFAE) has the privilege to present an incredible opportunity to collectors to own these original artworks which were used to create the film posters for a number of timeless Hollywood films released between the 1960s and 1990s. These iconic images have been emblazoned into the memories of millions upon millions of movie-lovers throughout the world.

The available originals include the very painting used for the production of the movie poster for My Fair Lady in 1964 - an enormously successful and important film starring Audrey Hepburn & Rex Harrison. Also included in the collection are the original paintings used for the posters for Academy Award-winning films such as Camelot (Richard Harris & Vanessa Redgrave) and Cool Hand Luke (Paul Newman), as well as The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean (Paul Newman), Mame (Lucille Ball), McCabe and Mrs Miller (Warren Beatty & Julie Christie), Deliverance (Burt Reynolds, Jon Voight), Night Moves (Gene Hackman), Hair and The Fox

Film posters themselves have a unique collector's market, with the oldest, most-iconic, and most pristine examples fetching record-breaking values at auction (reportedly as much as $1 million for the printed poster for Metropolis) and in private sales all over the world. What are rarely ever offered for sale however, are the actual museum quality original paintings and illustrations that were used to create these timeless & beloved posters.

All of these paintings are now offered for immediate sale, individually or as a collection. Interested collectors should contact info@sfae.com to receive a full prospectus with pricing.

Bob Peak, James Bama, Richard Amsel, William Teason, and Leo & Diane Dillon are the artists that created the various paintings included in the sale.

The collection has been amassed over a lifetime by famed art director, Bill Gold, who enjoyed decades of professional success working with the top illustrators in the movie industry on films by Hitchcock, Kubrick, Fellini and others. He produced the posters for every film Clint Eastwood produced, directed, and/or starred in, among many other classics. In 1994 Bill Gold was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award from The Hollywood Reporter.

SFAE has sold original artwork of iconic album covers by the Beatles, Pink Floyd, the Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan, among many others. The gallery has also concluded landmark sales of rare photographs of Marilyn Monroe, Martin Luther King, Jr., Johnny Cash and Muhammad Ali, just to name a few. In addition, SFAE has represented treasured music and movie-related artifacts from private and celebrity archives such as the Playboy Collection and the Brown Derby Collection, among others.

At its downtown San Francisco gallery, SFAE has hosted live events by everyone from music superstars Brian Wilson and Graham Nash to civil rights legend Clarence Jones and Michigan governor Jennifer Granholm. The gallery's most recent project was the sale of a rare portfolio of photographs of President John F. Kennedy celebrating the centennial of his birth in cooperation with the Kennedy Foundation, with a percentage of the proceeds benefitting the foundation.
