NEXT LEVEL #NOLLYWOOD
See the Big Picture of the Future!

I am now focusing on helping local Nollywood filmmakers to go global by participations in international film festivals outside Africa. Where the directors of selected films get all expenses paid trips and opportunities for grants. And also to help them to break into Hollywood and Bollywood.

For over 30 years we have been producing home videos in Nigeria, but majority of the actors, actresses and directors are still fixated on local bragging rights and making noise in competition against themselves in Nollywood and #Kannywood, Nigeria is not among the top ten biggest film industries in the world. In fact, Nigerian film distributors have never bought or sold any single Nollywood movie for global theatrical distribution at any film market. Genevieve Nnaji's breakout directorial debut, "Lionheart" bought by #Netflix was through a foreign film distributor.

Film acquisitions at international film festivals and film markets are the global standards for the evaluations of film industries.

South African films, including Jahmil X.T. Qubeka's "Sew the Winter to My Skin" was acquired by Elizabeth Sheldon's Juno Films for theatrical release in North America from sales group Rushlake Media and the similar "Five Fingers for Marseilles" by Michael Matthews was sold by Reel Suspects to The Jokers for France, Non Stop Entertainment for Scandinavia and the Baltic States, the Klockworx Co. for Japan and Astro for South East Asian pay TV distribution. But no contemporary Nollywood or Kannywood movie has been acquired for international theatrical release. Netflix did not mention any theatrical release of Genevieve Nnaji's "Lionheart"
Until movies by Nigerian filmmakers in Nollywood and Kannywood get acquired or sold for theatrical distribution in international territories, Nigerian film industry remains underdeveloped.
Breaking into the mainstream global film market is by making a global standard film production and making the global connection by the qualification for the official competitions in the major international film festivals where films attract the attention of international film distributors.
