Nigerian Filmmakers Should Ask For More Money For Their Movies

Our goal is to increase the global appreciation and competition for the acquisition of Nigerian movies.
We want the major OTT streaming video platforms and multinational cable TV networks to pay more for Nigerian content in the entertainment industry. Because the price for the acquisition of content should be based on the quality and not on the locality. A good Nigerian movie should be sold for as much as a good American movie without overrating #Hollywood above #Nollywood. What makes a great movie is not the location of the filmmaker, but the magnitude of the creation in content and context of the subject. A genius is a genius, whether he or she is located in Lagos or New York. Because a movie was made in #Hollywood or #Bollywood does not automatically make it better and greater than a movie made in #Nollywood.

Today, I viewed an amazing classic #Nollywood movie on @africamagic Epic and the awesome story left me in tears and captivated me for hours, because of the naturalistic acting of a teenage girl in the leading role of "Ada". I would have preferred the movie in the Igbo language of the actors and not in Nigerian English. So, even with extremely low budgets, Nigerian filmmakers are telling unforgettable stories. But their movies are being underpriced by film distributors, cable TV networks and the OTT streaming video platforms.
