2019 Recorded Three Groundbreaking Events in TV Broadcasting in Nigeria


In 2019, three groundbreaking events happened during the 60 years of TV broadcasting in Nigeria since the first TV station in Tropical Africa launched in 1959 in the Western Region of Nigeria. But only few Nigerians noticed their significance.


1. One of the leading pioneers of Nollywood, multiple award winning filmmaker, Mr. Fidelis Duker, the Founder and Executive Director of the annual Abuja International Film Festival and current Regional Secretary General of the Federation of Pan African Filmmakers (FEPACI) launched his FAD360 TV with FAD FM radio.


2. Hajia Shareefah Abiola- Andu, the MD/CEO of Arabel, Nigeria's top Islamic fashion and lifestyle stores launched Aleef TV, Nigeria"s first 24hr Muslim lifestyle channel on Startimes (Ch 290 ) and then this happened!


3. Nigeria"s first cloud based OTT multichannel TV and streaming video service, nvivo TV was launched in the last quarter of 2019 by Evivo Communications, Africa's most technologically advanced digital media company. And the video on demand (VOD) nvivo TV app is free without any subscription fee; offering original short format content from Nollywood and from the best foreign content providers.
