Are Nollywood Divas Losing Their Glamour?

Nollywood trendsetter, Rita Dominic.

Glamour comes with class and style.

One of the most celebrated Nollywood divas, Rita Dominic is known as the numero uno trendsetter in Nollywood for her unique fashion style and class and a role model to young fashionistas in the Nigerian entertainment industry.

Other Nollywood stars have also shown that they can be glamorous on the red carpets of premières and awards. But majority of them were flaunting luxury items without class and style. One of them mistakes displaying her enhanced big buttocks in body hugging dresses for glamour and another one thinks glamour is being flashy with sensational makeup and broadcasting aloud her acquisitions of designer bags and accessories. But in many cases, they have been flaunting fake designer brands and not the originals. Like saying; "if you don't have it, you can fake it."

The new wannabes of the glamorous high class society in social circles cannot match the world class standards of the leading ladies of class and style of the 1970s and 80s, such as the celebrated "Iya Oge" of Lagos, Lady Opral Benson, Hajia Abba Folawiyo, Dame Taiwo Ajai-Lycett, billionaire Folorunsho Alakija, Queen of Nigerian models, Yemi Fawaz, the late Angela Onyeador and Oluremi Osholake, aka "Remi Lagos" of blessed memory.

There is no showbiz without glamour. The divas are the most influential trendsetters of the entertainment industry, from Hollywood to Bollywood and the Nollywood divas cannot be left out. They should be more glamorous in fashion and lifestyle. And let us celebrate them. The Nigerian entertainment industry will be boring and not exciting without them.
