The Shocking Resemblance of Mike Omoregbe To Oba Ovonrawmen

Have you seen the real photograph of the great Omo n’Oba Ovonramwen Nogbaisi, the most famous King of Benin who ruled from 1888–1897 before he was captured, deposed and sent on exile in Calabar by British Consul-General Moor during the Benin Expedition of 1897?
Then have you seen Mike Omoregbe, the Nigerian actor playing the lead role of Ovonramwen in Lancelot Imasuen's historical epic film Invasion 1897?
He bears a striking resemblance to Omo n’Oba Ovonramwen Nogbaisi!

Even before the makeup-artist made him up for the epic movie, the reigning Oba of Benin, Omo N'Oba Erediauwa and his palace chiefs were stunned by the physical similarities of Mike Omoregbe and Ovonramwen according to Lancelot Imasuen. And that really confirmed that he is destined for the great role in the film.

Mike Omoregbe is not a new actor, but he was on his own kind of exile from acting until destiny beckoned on him to return to play the lead role in Invasion 1897, after nearly 24 years of acting-hibernation.
He started acting from secondary school with roles like "Bambulu" in James Ene Henshaw's popular play This is Our Chance, and later as an undergraduate student of English and Literature at the University of Benin, he co-founded ELSA Playhouse with Aoiri Obaigbo and Tunde Adeleke, becoming the second president of the playhouse after Aoiri and playing roles like "King Creon" in Sophocles’ Antigone, and "Remi" in Ngũgĩ wa Thiong'o’s The Black Hermit.

Invasion 1897 is the most anticipated film to celebrate the Nigeria Centenary in 2014 (modern day Nigeria came into being on January 1, 1914), and to mark the centenary of the death of the great King of Benin, Omo n’Oba Ovonramwen Nogbaisi in exile in Calabar on January 14, 1914, Lancelot Imasuen will host special guests from corporate Nigeria and leading journalists at his Lagos studios on January 14, 2014. - See more at: http://www.nigeriansreport.com/#sthash.MQ4HbsX2.dpuf.
