The Batman, Uncharted and The American King Top Weekend Box Office in NIgeria
The Batman, the 2022 American superhero film directed by Matt Reeves, Uncharted, the 2022 American action-adventure film directed by Ruben Fleischer and "The American King" directed by Adah Obekpa topped the weekend box office of March 4-, 2022 in cinemas in Nigeria.
"The American King" grossed more revenue than "Cake" and other movies showing in more cinenas nationwide from March 4-March 8, 2022. Filmhouse Cinemas and other cinemas are yet to show "The American King", currently the most exciting Hollywood and Nollywood comedy at the cinemas and is expected to pull more crowds in the coming days and especially during the Easter Weekend.

Nollywood actors Nse Ikpe-Etim and Enyinna Nwigwe are in the Hollywood and Nollywood comedy film “The American King” with the popular singer Akon.
Written and directed by Adah Obekpa and co-produced by Joan McCarthy, the film follows the story of Sebastian, an ex-con dealing with some dangerous yet sensitive Russian gangsters to whom he owes money, who receives an unbelievable offer to escape it all from a mysterious High Priestess who seeks to fulfil a 400-year-old prophecy: choose an American to become King of an ancient African kingdom and restore it to the global superpower it once was.
The film also stars Andrew Howard (“Limitless“), Nick Moran (“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows“, “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels“), Massi Furlan (“Jumanji: The Next Level“), Nathin Butler (“Westworld”), and Miguel Nuñez Jr. (“Juwanna Mann,”, “Tour of Duty“).
Lise Romanoff, CEO and Managing Director of Vision Films, says, “The American King is a cross between Coming to America and Black Panther, and while this movie is delivered with comedy, it depicts a very powerful commentary about the divisiveness and double standards in today’s society.
