VOGUE: What Does A Model Get Paid?
What Does A Model Get Paid?
While the road to becoming a successful model is often paved with challenges, hard work and plenty of rejection, it can be a lucrative career. Aspiring models should note though that a lot of editorial work is not paid for, but rather done in order to build up one’s book, or model portfolio. Up-and-comers should also be aware that even if you have booked a show at fashion week, say in Paris, or Milan, any flights and accommodation required to get there are also covered by models themselves.
As Alexina Graham, who is both a Victoria’s Secret Angel and L'Oréal Paris brand ambassador, tells Vogue candidly:
“I started at 18 and earned very little money for five years. It wasn’t until my sixth year that I started earning; I was ready to give up.”
