Why RED is Good for Aurora Films' 15th Anniversary
LANCASTER, Pa., March 4, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- When Aurora Films was founded in 2001 by Lancaster cardiologist Dr. John Slovak and director/videographer Brad Kenyon, its first production was a grant-funded medical video filmed at Lancaster General Health. Part of a cardiovascular outreach program for developing countries, it helped Aurora establish its presence in the medical field. Fifteen years later, Aurora has remained competitive in an age where everyone has access to digital media tools.
Recent equipment additions have helped to ensure Aurora has the technology to match its vision. With the RED Epic Dragon camera, Aurora videographers capture images in 6K for cleaner, crisper picture detail and vibrant color. Projects that require a handheld camera benefit from new camera stabilization technology like the Ronin camera gimbal. While not every project requires these technologies, Aurora works with every client to determine which resources are the best fit. "In a service industry that's reliant on technology, we have stayed on the cutting edge," says Kenyon, "but we're also very focused on the talent of our people. Whether you've worked with us since our beginnings or have just discovered us, we know you'll be impressed by how much our staff becomes a trusted steward of your brand."
When most industries were feeling the pinch of the recession during 2007 – 2009, Marine Reserves Colonel Kurt Stein joined Aurora to help the company navigate and diversify. Today, the company has strong agency partnerships and has developed many national accounts, including BMW NA/Johnson Controls, Behr Paints, American Standard, and Lancaster General Health/Penn Medicine, to name a few. They've helped the company gain momentum and develop a reputation for quality and creativity, regardless of budget.
In 2015, Aurora Films added a 9,600-square-foot soundstage in Leola, PA, to its pre- and post-production offices in downtown Lancaster. By partnering with The Shadowlight Group, which has a 125,000-square-foot commercial photography studio on the same Leola campus, Aurora offers clients art direction and set design/construction for any video production. National clients such as Samsung, Electrolux, Whirlpool, Moen, Armstrong, and Formica Group now have an East Coast resource for their videos.
Early in Aurora's development, Dr. Slovak stated, "We must never make a decision out of fear or greed." This philosophy has led to measured growth and a portfolio of work that spans genres and covers diverse subject matter.
