Beware of Covens in the Camouflage of Churches in Nigeria
Nigeria is famous for having thousands of churches competing for millions of souls in the most populous country in Africa. And Nigeria has some of the most famous pentecostal ministers in the world like Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and celebrated televangelist Pastor Christian Oyakhilome (known popularly as "Pastor Chris"), founder of the world renowned healing school and the founding president of Believers' LoveWorld Incorporated also known as "Christ Embassy", a Bible-based Christian ministry headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria. But there are also legions of strange men and women claiming to be messengers of God, but their strange rituals have exposed their backgrounds. Many of them are wolves in sheep clothing. That is why Nigerians are the most disgraced Africans for their corrupt practices and many of these Nigerians have no conscience and no shame.
Only few of them can ignore the opportunity to cheat, exploit, steal and kill in their evil greed for money and power. That is why many of them are title chasers and not nation builders.
If we are true believers and followers of Jesus Christ, we should demonstrate our faith in our daily relationships at home, at school and at work and not only when we show up for fellowship and worship.
Who does not know the Sermon on the Mount of Jesus Christ?
But many us listen to every sermon, but only few of us learn.
There is nothing our Messiah did not teach us for everyone who truly believes and accepts the truth to be reformed and transformed, but majority of us simply don't practice what the true ministers of God preach and teach and end up falling into temptations of false prophets and false teachers roaming all over the place.
You see those claiming to be Christian churches, but meeting at T-Junctions at midnight, burning incenses and breaking coconuts. Then you wonder when Jesus Christ did such rituals.
Others set up tents called churches at the beach and or seaside and say prayers facing the Atlantic ocean and you wonder where Jesus Christ commanded his disciples to do so.
There are those who tell people to get strange objects and other materials for rituals and you wonder whether they are pastors or witch doctors.
Millions of Nigerians have been deceived, fooled and misled by these spiritualists and cultists claiming to be prophets and prophetesses, because majority of their victims are either fake hypocritical church goers or ignorant of the truth our Lord and Messiah Jesus Christ clearly addressed and exposed when he warned of them in the following words.
You Will Know Them by Their Fruits
“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?"
~ Matthew 7:15-16 (New King James Version)
Apostle Paul also exposed them.
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
~ 2 Timothy 3:5-7 (King James Version)
Many of these strange churches in Nigeria are nothing but covens of witches and wizards and their rituals are enough to show any wise person that they are not of God, but agents of principalities, powers and the rulers of the darkness of this world (Ephesians 6:12).
Because the prophet lied
Thousands have died
And thousands more will follow
Because of the lies of this strange fellow.
~ Ekenyerengozi Michael Chima
The Prophet Lied is a kaleidoscopic time capsule in poetry.
From the first poem to the last one, Chima's eclecticism runs like blood through the veins as he addresses all the issues of life on earth from the classic temporal to the spiritual in all existential circumstances with provocative thoughts and evocative figures of speech on every facet and aspect of what transpires in our contemporary world. He is an unapologetic historian of his beloved country Nigeria and a romantic philosopher of the vicissitudes of life. The power of his poetry is his compelling vocabulary and captivating imagery as he loses no sight of every human experience and so he misses nothing with a poetic sense of humour. The Prophet Lied may take Chima into the pantheon of modern poetry for the classical nature of his literature makes it a timeless treasure.
