The talk of the town in Lagos, Africa's largest megacity is the 60th birthday celebration of Pastor Ben Akabueze Sunday afternoon at the Harbour Point on Victoria Island. Pastor Akabueze, the Pastor-in-Charge of Lagos Province 39 of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) is currently Director General of the Budget office for the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He was a former CEO of NAL Bank Plc (now Sterling Bank Plc) and two terms Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget with the Lagos State Government. The celebrations of his Diamond birthday started last week from Thursday, September 19 in Abuja to Sunday, September 22 in Lagos.
The celebration in Lagos attracted many dignitaries and leaders in Corporate Nigeria, including Managing Directors and CEOs of top banks; pastors in the RCCG; top ranking government officials and celebrities from the Nigerian entertainment industry. I saw popular singer, Iyanya Onoyom Mbuk, winner of the first season of Project Fame West Africa, best known for his hit single "Kukere"; fast rising young filmmaker, JLeo Uche, director of the most anticipated sci-fi epic in Nollywood, "The Legend of Gatuso" and the beautiful Nollywood actress, Nunnsi Ojong known for her lead roles in several TV series; as Prisca in "Dereal Don", Pamela of "Exit Plan" the movie,Victoria in "Game Over", Martha in "The Rift", "Family Forever", MTV Shuga, Season 4 and also Barrister Linda in "Scream" YouTube series by Soulmate Studios.

The guests received blessings from the ministrations of pastors and popular gospel musician, Pastor Nathaniel Bassey sang special songs and played his trumpet in thanksgivings and appreciation of the great things Almighty God has done for the celebrant. Others extolled his dignity, humility, integrity and nobility as a Christian minister, economist and accomplished public official. With his wife Ngozi and two daughters by his side, he cut his birthday cake and danced with the guests. Every guest received a gift bag of his books and a special sermon on DVD with enough to eat and drink. I gave him one of the best biographical books on Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye authored by Mr. Bisi Daniels.
